Whether or not to buy an apartment size refrigerator can be a bit confusing because there are several different types of small refrigerators the fall into this category.

2. Will I be able to store more than a few cans of soda and a sandwich in it.

3. How much freezer storage space do I need?

5 Questions in Deciding Which Apartment Size Refrigerator You Need

1. How much space do you have in your kitchen?

  • If you don’t have a kitchen then you can go right to the compact or compact cube refrigerator sections. If you do have a kitchen, albeit probably pretty small (especially if you live in NYC) by measuring the space you have you will be able to figure out which apartment size refrigerator will actually fit and what is the largest capacity you can place in your kitchen.

  • To know how much space you have for the ‘door swing’ take a tape measure and extend it out as far as you can without hitting any furniture or cabinets. The key to this is to remember that doors swing at an arc and to check from the floor level as well as from waist level throughout the entire arc. It is from this measurement you will learn whether you can get a single door refrigerator or if you need a double door refrigerator (e.g. – side by side or French door).

  • Tip: Don’t be surprised if you need a double door as we’ve found that quite often smaller sized kitchens often do need this due to this fact.
  • 3. How much fridge storage capacity do you need?

    • The best way to determine this is to first consider how many people will be living there and how often you cook at home? The basic rule is you should have 4-6 cubic feet of storage space per adult in your home.

    4. Do you cook with a great deal of fresh foods?

    • Then you might want to consider buying a French door refrigerator as they typically offer more fresh food storage space.

    5. Do you cook and freeze a food a lot?

    • If this is more of what you do than question the question above, then a side by side model will help you a great deal with that but be aware that you won’t be able to put any large trays or items in the fridge as well. Which ever fridge you purchase just make sure there is a great deal of freezer space.

    Situated along the south-east coast of Mallorca, approximately 70km from the capital Palma and the islands’ Son Sant Joan International airport, Cala d’or is part of the Municipal district of Santanyн, and during the summer months, is a popular and busy holiday destinations for both British and European visitors to Majorca.

    Cala d’or is a modern purpose built resort that has grown from a small traditional Mallorcan fishing village, and now covers an area of over 4km of small sandy coves and creeks. In all fairness this growth has for the most part been controlled, and the resort still has the feeling of a small village with few, if any, high rise buildings.

    The focal point of the resort is without doubt the large sporting marina at Cala Llonga, which has moorings for 565 vessels up to a maximum length of 20 metres, around which both visitors and locals all come to sail, dive and drink champagne at the numerous waterfront bars and cafes.

    Throughout the day, and well into the evening, there are also two mini road trains that run around the resort. The first runs between Cala d’or and the bay at Cala Egos, and the other runs between Cala d’or and nearby Cala Esmeralda.

    In high summer you can normally expect day time temperatures here of up to 30’C and night time temperatures averaging 20’C. June, July and August offer an average of over ten hours of sunshine a day and a sea temperature of 21 to 25’C.

    September is considered a very pleasant month and is often favoured by couples at this time of year. The sea is still warm and the day time average max temp is around 27’C. May and October are often a little cooler, but still offer visitors some glorious sunshine.

    Overall the resort of Cala d’or should appeal to most people.     What is the age for “senior” apartments?

    Senior age-restricted apartments are usually 55 or 62+ and follow HUD regulations which allow for such “age discrimination”. If restirctions are 55+, at least one person in the apartment must be at least 55 and the apartment community must have no more than 20% of all residents under the age of 55. If they are 62+, than ALL residents must be at least 62.

    Exceptions are made by HUD regulations for renters who are under the minimum age, if they are handicapped.

    Market rate is just that.   • Predominence of women among the 65+ population and their lower retirement income
  • High divorce rates among women now 55-80
  • Out-living husbands resulting in lowered retirement income

    Per HUD ( U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development ) Families who pay more than 30 percent of their income for housing are considered cost burdened and may have difficulty affording necessities such as food, clothing, transportation and medical care. An estimated 12 million renter and homeowner households now pay more than 50 percent of their annual incomes for housing. A family with one full-time worker earning the minimum wage cannot afford the local fair-market rent for a two-bedroom apartment anywhere in the United States .

    Affordable apartments have been created by government programs since the 1930s. What is defined as affordable in one community may not match the definition of affordable in another community.

  • Programs that provide opportunites for affordable housing are structured or defined by regulations from federal, county or city government legislation.
  • “Vouchers” enable a qualified recipient to rent a market-rate home or apartment and the voucher assures the landlord that the renter will pay 30 percent of his or her monthly income toward the rent and the difference between that portion and the market-rate rent will come from the government entity granting the voucher.
  • Bonds may be through city or county redevelopment programs, and use the money raised from the bond sale to fund and subsidize specific development of housing for “lower” income people. Bonds may specify what percent of the median income someone must have to qualify to rent in their building. i.e.You may be restricted to make no more than 50 percent of the median income in the county. Perhaps the funding of the complex specifies that you can make no more than 120 percent of median income. The funding is specifically tied to the complex, or specific units that are “affordable”.
  • Funding can also come from grants, community, government or federally based. The grant money functions similarly to bond money, designating percent of county median income at the time of the grant.
  • Tax credits are another way that the federal government may encourage development of affordable housing. By awarding tax credits (money deducted from a company’s federal tax obligation) in exchange for developing apartments within restrictive guidelines. In the past many years we see properties developed to offer affordable apartments that combine tax credits, grants and bond measures.

    The most commonly-known rental vouchers are Section 8 vouchers which can provide renter-based benefits to a qualified renter. They provide rent subsidies so tenants who hold them do not pay more than 30 percent of their adjusted gross income for rent.

Local senior centers and Area Agencies on Aging may also be able to identify affordable housing or even outline the steps for getting onto waiting lists.     The Seattle Office of Housing builds strong healthy communities and increases opportunities for people of all income levels to live in our city. For 35 years, the City has managed investments from the Seattle Housing Levy and other state and federal sources to fund the preservation and production of affordable apartments and homes. The Office of Housing also develops policies and manages programs that support further affordable housing production. To date, the City has created and preserved over 13,000 affordable homes throughout the city, helped 900 families purchase their first home, and provided emergency rental assistance to 6,500 households.

    Seattle Housing Levy Dashboard Launched

    As part of the City’s commitment to transparency around voter-approved initiatives, two new public facing websites were launched in September 2017 for the Seattle Preschool Program and the Housing Levy.     Request for Proposals for Equitable Transit-Oriented Development at Roosevelt Station

    On August 4, 2017, the Office of Housing and Sound Transit published a joint request for proposals (RFP) for equitable transit-oriented development on property adjacent to the future Roosevelt light rail station. OH announced $15 million in funding is available for site-specific affordable housing development on land offered by Sound Transit. OH and Sound Transit are seeking proposals to maximize the creation of affordable homes and meet a range of shared goals. Read the press release.

    Request for Proposals for Resale-Restricted, Affordable Homeownership Development on Surplus Property

    On July 25, 2017, the Office of Housing published a request for proposals (RFP) seeking proposals from qualified developers interested in acquiring City-owned land at 1312-1326 Yakima Avenue South to develop resale-restricted, affordable ownership housing on the site. The City’s objectives to create lasting community benefit include an affordability period of not less than 50 years, maximizing the site’s development potential and the creation of high-quality product.

    Foreclosure Prevention Pilot Program: Request for Proposals to Administer Loan Fund

    Today the Milwaukee Common Council approved a number of real estate projects and programs. Detailed zoning changes and land sales were granted for apartment proposals in a variety of city neighborhood ranging from the Park East to Halyard Park. The council also okayed a program to turn city-owned foreclosed homes into taxable properties owned by artists.

    Foreclosed Homes to Become Artist Havens

    The council approved a pilot program that allocates $100,000 so artists can leverage no-interest loans to turn city-owned homes into community hubs.

    The first participant in the program will be Vedale Hill. Hill, through rent-to-own firm Strong Blocks, will purchase a home in Bronzeville and operate an art studio in the space.

    The program was introduced as an amendment to the 2017 budget by council members Milele A. Coggs and Russell W. Stamper, II.

    Apartment Building in the Deer District

    A key piece of the Milwaukee Bucks arena district is coming together. The council granted approval for a zoning change to support the Park 7 Lofts, a 107-unit apartment building.

    The project will be built along N. 6th St. between W. Juneau Ave. and W. McKinley Ave. It is being developed by Royal Capital Group and designed by Engberg Anderson Architects.

    The Hills Luxury Commons

    A second Royal Capital Group project was also approved by the council. The project, one of three phases in The Hills Luxury Commons, would include 30 apartments

    The council approved a zoning change for 1937 N. Hubbard St. in Brewers Hill that will allow for the construction of three two-story buildings. The project would also include a fourth building to be used as a clubhouse and community space for residents.

    Halyard Park Apartments Get Green Light

    The Common Council approved a 19-lot land sale and zoning change for a three-phase apartment project in Halyard Park.

    The Vangard Group, led by Kalan Haywood, would develop a mix of market-rate and affordable housing on the site bounded by W. Vine St., N. 5th St., W. Walnut St. and N. 6th St. Dubbed City Place, the entire project has an estimated cost of $17.5 million.

    Phase one would include a four-story building with 51 units, 43 of which would be affordable housing built with low-income housing tax credits. The remaining two phases, totaling 39 apartments, would be built as townhomes and a three-story building.

    Griot Grant

    A $250,000 grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation for the development of The Griot Apartments and Garfield Avenue Apartments in Bronzeville was approved by the council. When complete, the $16.6 million project will house 71 apartments and 7,900 square-feet of commercial space spread over two buildings.     5th Street School Land Sale

    Finally, the Common Council gave the green light for the city to sell the former 5th Street School at 2770 N. 5th St. to Gorman Company. The deal, which has been in discussion since a public bidding process in 2014, would allow Gorman to convert the building into 48 units.

    The building was originally in 1888, but hasn t operated as a school since the 1970s. A city report notes that it was most recently operated as the Isaac Coggs Health Clinic and the Martin Luther King Health Care Center.

    Proceeds from the sale, $250,000 in total, would go to Milwaukee Public Schools. The project has an estimated cost of $9.7 million.

    Short-term Rental (STR) Ordinance

    The Board of Supervisors has directed the Long Range Planning Division of the Planning Development Department to review and clarify provisions concerning the use of Short-term Rentals within the unincorporated areas of the County. The STR project has resulted in zoning ordinance changes regarding how and where STRs and Homestays may or may not be permitted. Please see below for more details.

    Final adoption of ordinances related to Short-Term Rentals and Homestays

    On October 3, 2017, the Board of Supervisors adopted ordinances which included regulations to:

    Allow STRs in certain Commercial zones;

    Allow STRs in the STR-Coastal Zone Historic Overlay Zone;

    Prohibit STRs in Residential Zones;

    Prohibit STRs in AG-I and AG-II Zones;

    Prohibit STRs in Mixed Use, Resource Protection, Industrial, and Certain Special Purpose Zones;

    Allow ‘Homestays’ in AG-I and Residential Zones.

    In addition, the Board added these requirements for Homestays:

    Homestays cannot exceed three bedrooms, a person can only apply for one homestay license, homestays must have nuisance response plans, and a long-term tenant is someone who has a lease for at least 6 months.

    The option of Farmstays in AG-II has been directed to be reviewed in the Agricultural Tiered Permit project, to be completed at a later date.

    The grace period to operate STRs in Residential and AG-I zones is until October 1, 2018 for the Inland area of the County and no later than 90 days following the certification of the ordinance by the California Coastal Commission or within 333 days after the date the Board of Supervisors adopted this ordinance, which ever is later, for the Coastal Zone.

    Permits for Homestays will be available at the beginning of 2018.

    Whether or not to buy an apartment size refrigerator can be a bit confusing because there are several different types of small refrigerators the fall into this category.

    Here’s the most important questions you’ll need to ask yourself to make this decision:

    1. Does it fit in the small amount of space you have?

    2. Will I be able to store more than a few cans of soda and a sandwich in it.

    3. How much freezer storage space do I need?

    You’ll be happy to know that apartment refrigerators do vary in size as well as in storage capabilities. Using these to factors as your guide we feel that you should be able to find the perfect small size refrigerator to fit all of your needs.

    Different Types of Apartment Size Refrigerators

    1. Compact cube refrigerator (1.5-2.7 cu ft)

    As you can see, the biggest difference between these 3 is storage space. More often than not a compact cube or a is perfect for a very small studio apartment (with only one person) or a dorm room.

    TIP: If you have the space for it, you may want to consider looking at compact freezers as well so that you’ll have plenty of freezer storage space.

    5 Questions in Deciding Which Apartment Size Refrigerator You Need

    1. How much space do you have in your kitchen?

    • If you don’t have a kitchen then you can go right to the compact or compact cube refrigerator sections. If you do have a kitchen, albeit probably pretty small (especially if you live in NYC) by measuring the space you have you will be able to figure out which apartment size refrigerator will actually fit and what is the largest capacity you can place in your kitchen.

    2. Do you have enough room for a single door or do you need a half sized door? Also do you need an apartment size refrigerator that opens to the right or left?

    • To know how much space you have for the ‘door swing’ take a tape measure and extend it out as far as you can without hitting any furniture or cabinets. The key to this is to remember that doors swing at an arc and to check from the floor level as well as from waist level throughout the entire arc. It is from this measurement you will learn whether you can get a single door refrigerator or if you need a double door refrigerator (e.g. – side by side or French door).

  • Tip: Don’t be surprised if you need a double door as we’ve found that quite often smaller sized kitchens often do need this due to this fact.
  • 3. How much fridge storage capacity do you need?

    • The best way to determine this is to first consider how many people will be living there and how often you cook at home? The basic rule is you should have 4-6 cubic feet of storage space per adult in your home.

    4. Do you cook with a great deal of fresh foods?

    • Then you might want to consider buying a French door refrigerator as they typically offer more fresh food storage space.

    5. Do you cook and freeze a food a lot?

    • If this is more of what you do than question the question above, then a side by side model will help you a great deal with that but be aware that you won’t be able to put any large trays or items in the fridge as well. Which ever fridge you purchase just make sure there is a great deal of freezer space.

    If you ve recently decided to make your vacant house available for rent to earn extra income, you may be wondering how to prepare your house before renting it out.     You can rent an apartment in Argentina month-to-month in a manner similar to doing so in the U.S. or Canada, but this is not the norm and you will need to pay a few months of rent and/or a hefty deposit. I would recommend that you break away from the common expatriate locales (and where most tourists congregate, such as the areas listed above), and head out of town some distance to a less populated area.

    Our low-income apartments are subsidized by the Federal government and are designed for seniors and adults with disabilities who enjoy living independently but need the financial assistance provided through the subsidy. In our apartments, we keep rents affordable.

    Residents pay approximately 30% of their adjusted monthly income towards rent. In order to initially qualify, applicants have incomes at or below 50% of the area median income. In accordance with HUD regulations, preference is provided to those applicants with incomes at or below 30% of the area median income.

    Monthly income is adjusted to account for medical or other eligible expenses.

    Utilities are included in tenant rent or a utility allowance is provided by way of a deduction in monthly rent due.

    Rents are adjusted on an ongoing basis to reflect changes in resident’s income.

    SHO has apartments available in both Denver, Garfield and Grand Counties.

    Recurring monthly income not greater than qualifications set by federal standard. (No fixed asset tests)

    Seniors age 62 and older or an adult with a disability Varies with each property

    1 Hyde Park: London’s Most Famous Green Space

    One of Britain’s Royal Parks, Hyde Park covers some 350 acres, including a lake – the Serpentine – that was built in 1730 and is popular for boating and swimming. To the north of the Serpentine is a bird sanctuary with Epstein’s figure of “Rima”, the bird-girl heroine of W H Hudson’s novel, “Green Mansions”. Suitably named Grand Entrance, the main entrance to the park is a triple archway built in 1828 and including a reproduction of the Parthenon frieze. Nearby is a statue of Achilles cast from captured French cannon, erected in honor of the Duke of Wellington, and a copy of a figure on the Quirinal in Rome. Other highlights include the wonderful Diana Memorial Fountain, a spectacular structure made from 545 pieces of Cornish granite and designed to reflect the life of Princess Diana.

    2 Kensington Palace and Gardens

    Kensington Palace became a private residence for English royalty in 1689. The last king to reside here was George II, and it was here that Queen Victoria was born and years later received news of her accession. The State Apartments are open to the public and include an exhibition of coronation robes and the Queen’s Gallery with its numerous royal portraits. Other highlights include the spectacular Queen’s Staircase designed by Sir Christopher Wren in 1690, and the quarters of Queens Victoria, Mary and Anne, along with their personal possessions. Admission includes lovely Kensington Gardens, once the palace’s private gardens and laid out in 1728 by Queen Caroline. The grounds feature a superb sunken garden, flower walk and fountains. Afterwards, be sure to pop into the Orangery for a spot of tea (breakfast and lunches also available).

    3 The Duke of Wellington Museum: Apsley House

    The first Duke of Wellington bought Apsley House after his famous victory at Waterloo. The Duke made numerous alterations, most notably adding the Waterloo Gallery where many of London’s most lavish banquets were held. The building was opened as the Wellington Museum, a branch of the Victoria and Albert Museum, in 1952 and houses magnificent collections of paintings, including Vel zquez‘s “Waterseller of Seville”, along with numerous gifts presented to Wellington after the war. Some 83 of the 200 pictures in the collection came from the Spanish royal collection and were captured by Wellington at the Battle of Victoria in 1813 and later given to him by a grateful King of Spain. Other artists featured in the collection are van Dyck, Correggio and Rubens, as well as Dutch genre paintings and contemporary British paintings including Wilkie’s “Chelsea Pensioners Reading the Waterloo Despatch”, portraits of his comrades at arms, and Napoleon with his family.

    4 The Wellington Arch

    The lovely Wellington Arch is located outside the Duke of Wellington’s former residence at Apsley House and commemorates his most famous victory at Waterloo. Its most dramatic feature is the spectacular bronze chariot with the figure of Peace. Also nearby is a bronze statue of Wellington on horseback with its figures of a Grenadier Guard, a Scottish Highlander, a Welsh Fusilier and an Inniskilling Dragoon. In addition to an exhibition about the history of the structure, the arch has a gallery with rotating exhibits exploring the history and heritage of England.

    5 The Albert Memorial: Tribute to a Royal Romance

    The extremely ornate memorial to Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg-Gotha (1819-61), Queen Victoria’s consort, is located in Kensington Gardens and was in the neo-Gothic style. Albert is seated under a richly decorated canopy 190 ft high, holding in his hand the catalogue of the Great Exhibition of 1851. Around the pedestal are 178 marble neo-classical reliefs of artists and men of letters of every period. At the corners of the pedestal are sculptured groups symbolizing manufacturing, engineering, commerce and agriculture, and at the outer corners of the steps are other groups symbolizing the continents of Europe, Asia, Africa and America.

    6 Speakers’ Corner

    Speakers’ Corner is a traditional forum for free speech that’s always busy on weekends. Located opposite Marble Arch, it’s where anyone with a grievance or a mission – or simply something to say – can find an audience. It’s particularly busy on Saturday and Sunday afternoons when soapbox orators address listeners with often-eloquent religious or political messages, many of whom seem to relish the lively heckling. Jomo Kenyatta, former President of Kenya, spoke here in his younger days, and Idi Amin, later notorious as Dictator of Uganda, was often in the crowd before rising to infamy.

    7 Hyde Park Riding Stables

    Hyde Park Riding Stables has for over 300 years been England’s most famous equestrian center. Located at Bathurst Mews close to Victoria Gate, they offer 5 mi rides through bridleways and around the Serpentine. Riding lessons are also available.
